Ciclo de conferencias de investigadores externos
El miércoles 17 de agosto, la Dra. Raquel Chan, investigadora del CONICET y directora del IAL, Santa Fe, Argentina, brindó una nueva Conferencia del Ciclo “CIQUIBIC de Puertas Abiertas”.
Luego de las palabras de bienvenida a cargo de la Dra. Andrea Smania, la Dra. María Elena Álvarez presentó a nuestra disertante invitada, destacando los numerosos logros de su carrera académica y la excelencia de su producción científica.
La Dra. Chan, quien lidera un laboratorio de Biotecnología Vegetal, compartió con la audiencia los aportes de su grupo de investigación en relación a los efectos de la sobreexpresión de factores de transcripción de tipo HD-Zip I en plantas en la respuesta al estrés hídrico. La Dra. Chan explicó los aspectos moleculares que regulan los niveles de expresión de estas proteínas tanto en Arabidopsis como en girasol y como estos conocimientos pueden traducirse en el mejoramiento de cultivos de interés para el sector agropecuario (soja, trigo, maíz).

Adriana Gruppi, Profesora Titular e Investigadora Principal en CIBICI-CONICET, Facultad de Ciencias Químicas-UNC. La conferencia se realizará el próximo 14 de septiembre a las 11h en el Auditorio de la Facultad de Ciencias Químicas.

On Wednesday August 17th, Dr. Raquel Chan, researcher and director of the IAL-CONICET, Santa Fe, presented the fourth Conference of the Cycle “CIQUIBIC Open Doors” 2016.
After the welcoming remarks by Dr. Andrea Smania, Dr. María Elena Álvarez presented our invited speaker, emphasizing her many academic achievements and the excellence of her scientific publications.
Dr. Chan laboratory is focused on Plant Biotechnology. She shared with the audience the novel findings made by her research group regarding the effects of overexpression of transcription factors HD-Zip I type in plants in response to water stress. She explained the molecular aspects that regulate the expression levels of these proteins in model (Arabidopsis) and non-model (sunflower) plants, and showed how this knowledge can be applied to improve crops of interest for the agricultural sector (soybean, wheat, maize).
We invite the scientific and university community, as well as to the general public, to attend the next conference of “CIQUIBIC Open Doors” Lectures Series by Dr. Adriana Gruppi, Full Professor and Principal Researcher at CIBICI-CONICET, College of Chemical Sciences, National University of Córdoba. The conference will be held on September 14th, 11h at the Auditorium of FCQ-UNC.
